Perfectly balanced gameplay.

This game has exactly the right learning curve and lives in just the right intersection between believability, difficulty, and fun. I am not exaggerating when I say this game could have easily been sold on Steam for $10 a copy and people would have bought it in droves, including myself. The author really struck gold with this sadly unexplored facet of the classic zombie apocalypse setting, and it was a game that was just waiting to be made.

I play this game repeatedly, and the more challenging the difficulty level, the more the player is forced to utilize every available resource; from scavenging food, to the desperate race to reinforce the fort, to recruiting survivors to replace those lost in the inevitable fort overruns. My only issues are that the gameplay seems to get slightly stale once your fort grows to a large size, and your population becomes larger. The interface could also be streamlined a bit, but these points are minor. The harder difficulties can get frustrating for me, but that is clearly the point of the game anyway; the potential of losing is always there and there's this great survival of the fittest/no guarantees feeling to it.

The author really should be hired by an actual game company or start her own. Excellent work; the nail was hit squarely on the head with this game.

Perhaps a sequel is in order that could start where the city hall victory left off and you could run a country that rises from the ashes of the zombie apocalypse?

Very well done!

This is a very well done game, and actually quite an accurate simulation, if only working was that easy. I would have liked more than one sound loop for the game, and it's rather obscure how you go about making a flash movie in the game. Other than that, I can safely say that this belongs in the top 10.

Simply amazing.

This easily one of the best, if not THE best, submissions I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. The interactivity is matched by none, and the physics and graphics effects: Truly a wonder.

You have created a gem that deserves, hands down, the top spot in the top 50 of all time list.

Could you perhaps let me get a hold of the source code? This would be enormously helpful in my own future games and would be invaluable in showing me how to create my own physics engine from scratch. Thank you, and please continue to create more high-quality flash of this caliber.

High quality entertainment, if a little repetitive

The sounds, graphics, and style were well executed. However, as with most of these kind of interactive movies, you often end up doing it over and over again, getting one action further each time you die and restart, which gets repetitive. Still high quality none the less.

Decent game.

I made a game similar to this, "Vehicular Homicide" a while ago. Decent graphics, but you might want to reduce the quality when the car is moving, as the frame rate takes a significant hit. Also, more than one music track would be preferable.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Thanks for your review...
If you read the instrcutions you would know that there is more then one sound track. It shows you how to change between them.

Don't listen to the other idiots.

Don't listen to the people that say "yack! those graphics suck" or "THIS GAME SUCKS MAJOR BALLSAX!!!". It's refreshing to see a game with some intelligence on NG and the people who rate this game badly or think it only took 5 minutes to make based solely on the graphics are idiots.

You're right that it took effort to make... I put around 4 months into this game, over 100 hours work. How many portal submissions can say that? I do, however, understand that the graphics may be offputting to younger players. It's the retro vibe!

Decent game.

While I wasn't expecting a full fledged first person shooter, this is little more than an interactive shoot-the-movie-clip. It does make a decent game however.

The rap music on the second level was kind of inappropriate for Halo and the sound quality overall left something to be desired. The art was decent but the damage effects were rather mediocre.

While not the best game ever, it still wasn't bad.

Thanks

Fun, good adventure game.

While others may think the dialog was stupid, I found it to be funny, as it was surely intended to be. The plot was decent and this was a fun game to play.

As for some of the jokes, I was genuinely not expecting that cave thing, which is refreshing given all the portal submissions with bland and predictible humor. Good job, I'm voting 4.

Good for your first try.

This is great for a first game, but it would have been better if you had included different music for each level, instead of the same rather annoying song each time. A vote of 3 is what you get from me!

A classic

Classic NG game, but should there not be a sequel by now?
